Frequently Asked Questions
How is urea price regulated in India?
Urea prices in India are controlled by the Government of India under the Essential Commodities Act. The MRP for urea is fixed at ₹268/bag (45 kg) for farmers, with the difference between actual cost and MRP paid as subsidy to manufacturers. Industrial urea has market-linked pricing.
What is the difference between prilled urea and granular urea?
Prilled urea has smaller spherical granules (1–3mm) made by solidifying molten urea in a prilling tower. Granular urea (2–4mm) is made in a granulation plant and is more suitable for mechanical spreading. Both have the same nitrogen content (46%) but different physical properties.
