Frequently Asked Questions
Which micronutrient is most deficient in Indian soils?
Zinc (Zn) deficiency is the most widespread in India — ICAR surveys indicate over 50% of sampled soils are Zn-deficient. Iron deficiency is common in calcareous soils. Boron deficiency is widespread in light sandy soils and is critical for oil crops. Manganese deficiency occurs in waterlogged paddy soils.
What is the recommended zinc sulphate dose per acre?
For soil application: Zinc sulphate 33% at 10–15 kg/ha (4–6 kg/acre). For foliar spray: ZnSO₄ 0.2–0.5% solution (2–5g/L). For severely deficient soils, chelated zinc EDTA at 100–200g/acre foliar spray is more effective than sulphate form.
