Seed treatment is the application of biological or chemical agents to seeds before sowing to protect against seed-borne pathogens, soil-borne fungi, early-season insects, and nutrient deficiencies. A single seed treatment investment replaces multiple early-stage foliar sprays and ensures uniform crop establishment โ the foundation of high yield.
Rhizobium (legumes), Azospirillum (cereals), Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria. Fixes atmospheric nitrogen, mobilises soil phosphorus. Mix with shade-dried seeds.
Thiram, Captan, Carboxin โ control damping off, seed rot, early blight. Apply at 2โ3 g/kg seed. Critical for cotton, soybean, groundnut.
Zinc sulphate seed treatment at 2โ4 g/kg corrects hidden zinc hunger from germination. Boron treatment improves pollen viability in legumes.
Imidacloprid 70% WS, Thiamethoxam 70% WS โ protect seedlings from early-season sucking pests, white grub. Apply 5โ8 ml/kg seed.
