EDTA (Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetic Acid) chelated micronutrients are the most effective form of micronutrient supplementation for crops. The chelation process binds metallic ions (Zinc, Iron, Manganese, Copper) to organic EDTA molecules, preventing them from reacting with soil particles and becoming unavailable to plants. EDTA chelates are stable across a soil pH range of 4โ7, making them ideal for the majority of Indian agricultural soils.
In Indian soils โ especially alkaline, calcareous, or waterlogged conditions โ conventional sulphate micronutrients quickly become fixed in soil and unavailable to crops. EDTA chelation keeps nutrients in plant-available form 3โ5ร longer than sulphate forms, dramatically improving crop uptake and reducing the total amount needed.
Corrects interveinal chlorosis, improves fruit set in grapes, mango, citrus. Most commonly deficient micronutrient in Indian soils.
Treats iron chlorosis (yellowing between leaf veins). EDDHA preferred for high-pH soils above pH 7.5.
Essential for photosynthesis. Deficiency common in high-pH and waterlogged soils. Spray at 0.5โ1 g/L.
Critical for enzyme function, lignin synthesis. Deficiency causes die-back and wilting in sandy soils.
