Micronutrients โ Zinc, Boron, Iron, Manganese, Copper, Molybdenum, Chlorine โ are essential plant nutrients required in small quantities but critical for growth, yield and quality. Over 50% of Indian agricultural land is deficient in at least one micronutrient, causing yield losses of 10โ40% that are often misattributed to drought or pest damage.
50%+ soils deficient. Causes Khaira in rice, white bud in maize, small leaves. Apply Zinc Sulphate 33% or Zinc EDTA 12%.
Critical for pollination, fruit set. Poor boll setting in cotton, hollow stem in cauliflower. Apply Borax or Boron Ethanolamine 10%.
Interveinal chlorosis in grapes, citrus, soybean on high-pH soils. Use Iron EDDHA 6% for alkaline soils (pH > 7.5).
Chlorosis in waterlogged and high-pH soils. Grey speck disease in oats and wheat. Spray Manganese Sulphate 30.5% at 0.5%.
Young leaf yellowing, reduced pungency in onion/garlic, poor grain protein. Apply Sulphur 80% WDG at 4โ6 kg/acre.
Blossom end rot in tomato/capsicum, tip burn in lettuce, fruit cracking in pomegranate. Apply Calcium Nitrate at flowering.
Step 1: Get a soil test to confirm deficiency (KVK, NABL lab, or SoilPro.in AI recommendation).
Step 2: Choose between sulphate forms (economical, for soil application) or chelated forms (faster, for foliar or alkaline soils).
Step 3: Apply foliar spray during cool hours (early morning or late evening). Avoid spraying during flowering.
Step 4: Repeat 2โ3 times at 14-day intervals. Symptoms should improve within 10โ21 days.
