Blossom End Rot in Tomato — Causes & Treatment

Identify why your Tomato is showing blossom end rot, apply the correct treatment and prevent recurrence in Indian growing conditions.

Common Causes of Blossom End Rot in Tomato

Treatment

Immediate: Calcium EDTA 2–3g/L foliar spray every 7 days × 3 applications. Drip: Calcium Nitrate 2–2.5kg/acre/week. Reduce ammonium-based fertilizers — switch to Calcium Nitrate for N source. Maintain even soil moisture.

Prevention

Calcium Nitrate as the primary N source (not urea) for drip tomato. Consistent daily irrigation schedule. Soil calcium >1000 ppm (soil test). Mulch to prevent moisture extremes.
